Carriacou
We just arrived in Carriacou the other day and spent yesterday exploring the south end of the Island and we also hiked around to the windward side which is very rugged. Carriacou is a great little island somewhat off the tourist route which has helped it retain its charm. We will head back to Grenada from here and will set sail in a few days.

Getting the rig sorted out
Well it was back up the mast, once again, to get the lazy jacks re-attached as the main tore them out when the reefing line broke. So hopefully we can get the new main on and up tommorrow without more trips up the mast!!!

Independance Day Celebrations Grenada
Well while our sails are at the sail makers being altered and mended we took in the Grenada Independance Day celebrations in the old capital of Grenville on the Atlantic coast side. The town was packed and a group of us chartered a bus to get there and back as driving here is quite a challenging experience, to say the least. Thousands of islanders showed up and the streets were wall to wall people with lots of food stands and entertainment. I tried the "Manly Water" drink and don't want to know what the ingredients were!!!!

Grenada Sailing Regatta
Well it was a great week of regatta racing and attending the after race parties at the local hotels and resorts. We were entered in the Cruising Class, which was quite competetive, and got better after the first few races. Boxxer was measured for the Caribbean rating system and we can now enter other races throughout the Caribbean if we want to. The 3rd day of racing was very very windy and many of the yachts suffered sail dammage and we were no exception!!! We lost our main sail after a reefing line snapped, the sail came appart badly and unfortunately is beyond repair. We have managed to obtain another main from a 50 foot Swan but it will have to be modified slightly to fit our rig. It was great fun and we met loads of fantastic people but it can be a very costly sport so we will have to assess entering any future Regattas. So stay tunned as new crew are arriving in a few days.
